The beginning of a great adventure

In the summer of 2005, Mara Casella moved to the Himalayan mountains in Northern India to launch, in close cooperation with Marianne Aerni, a friend from Geneva, a humanitarian project in favour of disabled children and young people.
In Leh (Ladakh's capital) they created together from scratch "Munsel", a small specialized school, destined to be transformed also into a training center for local teachers and point of reference for families confronted with the problem of disability.
In 2008, the Munsel School (Musel literally meaning "out of darkness", "out of ignorance") was inaugurated at almost 4000 m above sea level.
Respecting and in keeping with the ancient traditions, the name is recommended by a Great Lama. The monk also traces spiritually the path of this initiative which, in 2019, will cross a new important threshold with the inauguration of the new seat in Choglamsar.
