New school year
Munsel School reopened on March 9, like other schools in Ladakh.
Two new children were admitted to the nursery: a three-year-old with developmental delays, and a five-year-old with Angelman syndrome, which causes severe balance and mobility problems and leads to severe epileptic seizures.
Two students, who had completed eighth grade, were admitted to the Chuchot public school , where they will continue their studies as their parents wished.
Three others, who had only mild symptoms of disability, were also admitted to other schools on medical advice.
Late last year, the Leh Social Welfare Department visited Munsel School as part of its assessment program to facilitate the placement of adults in various job sectors.
The profiles of Chemat, Diskit, and Rigzen were specifically examined, and they were offered a trial period in a market. Their parents chose to decline for safety reasons so they will continue to attend Munsel while we work with our local committee to find other solutions .
At the same time, the search for a physiotherapist who can dedicate more time to the school is continuing successfully. The selection process is nearing completion.
This year's staff includes six teachers, a driver a handyman and a caretaker, who also handle maintenance.
The staff is led by the new CEONapishu Guest House Tsewang Yangzas, in collaboration with coordinator Kunzang Palkit, who has worked with Mara at Munsel School since the beginning, and her assistant.
